They also fear that feeling different would betray their true identity.","answer":"The response encourages professional help and describes medical assessment, psychiatric care, and psychotherapy as possible routes to addressing depression. It challenges the idea that improvement must be inauthentic, framing change as growth rather than betrayal of the self. The answer suggests that a therapist may help the reader communicate and become less stuck, while the original does not give detailed guidance for the reported suicidal distress."},"sourceUrl":"https://www.mentalhealth.com/answers/inability-to-express-myself","sourceReviewer":{"@type":"Person","@id":"https://mentalhealth-v2.workspace-454808.chatgpt.site/people/jesse-hanson#person","name":"Jesse Hanson, Ph.D.","url":"https://mentalhealth-v2.workspace-454808.chatgpt.site/people/jesse-hanson"},"question":{"id":"https://mentalhealth-v2.workspace-454808.chatgpt.site/answers/inability-to-express-myself#question","url":"https://mentalhealth-v2.workspace-454808.chatgpt.site/answers/inability-to-express-myself#question","html":"<p>I guess I have a lot of “issues” but I am reluctant to see a therapist because many of my issues also are involve inability express myself verbally. It’s somewhat likely that you’re depressed given what you report here. Depression can be addressed in a number of ways – not all of which involve therapy.
